Happy Thursday. Thanks to my friend Rebecca for letting me use her photograph. Wooo, Stonehenge vac-a.

Middle of the week and the middle of the month. Fifteenth day in a row! This is another one of those images I've been meaning to draw for years.
This is a drawing of myself, from a photo that I didn't know was being taken...in which I unintentionally turned away.
It's a little loose, but it's also a little late. August 13 drawing is one I've been wanting to draw for some time now. Years after we took the photo. Sharpie text omitted.
I went ahead and drew Saturday's drawing (today's) while I was still up from Friday. Long day ahead. This drawing is on 6"x9" vellum paper, on top of Bristol. Andrea also took this original photo.
with your barefeet on top of the pillows. Thanks to Andrea Danchik for letting me use her photo as a reference.
This is Thursday's drawing posted after midnight like yesterdays, but I haven't slept yet so am not counting the "day" as done just because the calendar says so. In case you're curious, I drew this from a photograph I took inside a church in Szentgal, Hungary, a very small village nearby Veszprem.
Better 2am post than no post! This image is of my childhood best friend, grown up with a guitar still in hand. 6"x6" and yet another pen drawing. Thanks Liz for letting me draw this photo.
This is a 7"x7" pen drawing, referencing a photo from a time I lived with my best friend and probably read too much Bukowski. Drink then spin. One week complete!
I may want to re-consider this image as a color painting; I don't think pen quite lives up to the original. All those lines in the building were a doozy to draw out! Thanks to my friend Destiny, for letting me use her photograph.
Drawing of a double exposure - a self portrait from several months ago. Kind of a head-spinner to draw. Matches this day.
Picked an image with teeth, upturned nose, mouth, ear, hair, clothing, and heavy cast shadow on a day I worked a 9 hour shift. Saturday is for staying busy.
Another pen drawing, 9"x6" on bristol. Someone's shopping for some CDs. I had fun with the dark clothing.
I am doing another drawing-a-day series for this month of August. Any feedback is appreciated, the pressure to complete is ON.
Here's the first drawing, a 5x7" pen drawing on bristol of a child. It's of my niece, actually. She's a twin, but hopefully those who know my family can decipher which girl it is. Guessing game. Almost made it every day for a whole month. Thanks a lot, thanksgiving. Going to pause this project for a while..my motivation is back, so I'm spending time on more meaningful projects now. THANKS FOR CHECKIN THIS OUT. Here's one more for the road. Life drawing from my sketchbook of beardy.
Old fashion magazine page + book page cutout of a reclining figure + pen drawing of a chapel in Budapest...done.
Scanned copy of today's drawing. Trying to get braver about design within an image..not sure if I'll go forward with it though. This is an 8x10" pen drawing on bristol.
Took a little break from this, but am resuming the series for another week! I want to devote more time to projects that cannot be completed in a day. SO, here's today's drawing - a scribbly rendition of my niece sitting over a book in a heavily shaded area, but distracted by something.
Carried away with prisma color markers.
May not draw tomorrow as I will be spending the day with family and friends. 6x9" pen drawing..then I traced the drawing and used both on a 9x12" bristol piece of paper with sumi ink, mixed with book page silhouette cutout and various other cutouts.
for Saturday, the 19th. late night drawing of a porcelain flower..and a vellum cut out with old pen drawing..over magazine clipping.
Getting behind posting drawings, and with the holidays coming up..ahh almost a month in!
This is a fast (perhaps..unfinished..) drawing from Friday, the 18th. I had a friend's art show to go to after work okay. COWS. in the road. from a photograph I took in Russia, summer 2007. |
